Flintstones thermos

How i used to love watching cartoons as a kid at our house on Saturday mornings! WHile many moms were in the kitchen baking in their pretty pyrex dishes, they were also listening to the peaceful happy sound of cartoons that pretty much entranced their brood til breakfast was ready! This Aladdin Thermos immediately brought back memories of our mid century modern style home and the sheer thrill of a Saturday morning filled with laziness and cartoons, one of my favorites? The Flintstones of course!

I feel that this entire blog wouldnt be complete without at least one recipe from a fellow blogger, so let's all give a shout out to Shauna where i found some pretty amazing recipes for breakfast...at my house on Saturday mornings, it was crepes, pancakes, cereal or scrambled eggs...but there was always something for everyone.

and of course if you truly must have a few episodes of The Flintstones of your very own...Be sure to check out an Amazon Prime Trial for free shipping on your order.

pyrex crazy daisy napkin rings

I just found a set of six napkin rings. in a sealed bag from a little shop who packaged them up.
i borrowed the following photos from a sold listing from the internet to depict how an original boxed set would have
been in its original state.

while i have no box, i do have a set of 6 napkin rings. they are for sale for a fair price plus shipping through paypal.
thank you for looking and i do hope you enjoyed seeing the original Pyrex Compatibles napkin rings that do complement corelle dishes as well in the same pattern~

oh my poor little honey hole of a shop had no clue what they were! and they like to think they are experts on pyrex as they price much of it pretty outrageously and the better stuff doesnt even make it to the sales floor instead facing a timely demise to thrift  store auctions to be bid upon and charged higher fees with shipping for the lucky buyer who wins...

please just keep all our pyrex here and let me buy it at a reasonable price, like the napkin rings

below zero temps with wind chill

it is just way too cold out for thrifting yep that is me saying this.! i am going to take a nap. and then watch the grand kids.
my grandma is being sent to a closer hospital for rehab. stroke progress is going very well! it has been a helluva long week waiting to here updates from an hour away so haven't gotten a lot of anything accomplished.

should have loads of fun tonight playing make believe for a few hours with the kids.

Next will be power steering pump. it is nice having a beat up old mercedes suv to drive around for thrifting and no worries about beating it up like the time i hit a snow ice bank ok just yesterday i stopped at a little shop and not one dish! but managed to pull out of the parking spot at just the right angle to hit the ice enough to crack my bumper. darned plastic cars. i want the good ole fashioned metal cars that never bend if you hit things! Very hard to concentrate when not enough coffee and severe fibromyalgia pain but i managed...poor suv...still made it out of the house and
it was friday the 13th after all my sis reminded me. So home i went! Now we just wait and see how much longer i can go without losing my power steering. hoping to get it fixed this upcoming week.

Have a great valentine's day weekend. federal buildings are closed monday so no shipping things out right away. nice little break.

clear bottom pyrex bowl chart

http://www.corellecorner.com/clear-pyrex-profiles/469-clear-bottom-bowls-1986.htmlhttp://www.corellecorner.com/clear-pyrex-profiles/469-clear-bottom-bowls-1986.html

Yes! i had an opportunity to buy a light brown set of these awhile back and did not buy them due to thinking they were newer and not worth anything. i just may have to go out and check to see if they are still there! any interest? i believe the set was 45 dollars for the mixing bowls.

sigh....i am not feeling up to heading out just yet. Fibromyalgia really takes a toll on a person so i go when i can go and accept i cannot go other days due to pain and exhaustion. I have realized on my bad days to just accept it and save up energy for the next day. :).

hope the charts helps! i know if that set is there still when i go back, i will bring it home and snap a picture.

my grandma got to ride in a helicopter. which when i found out was terrified to know she had to do that for a hospital transport. was relieved to hear from my aunt that she is in good spirits, and even relayed a message that grandma says they had her wear "earmuffs" or headphones in the helicopter so they could hear when she talked to them.

stroke is a high possibility after a heart attack and having stents put in by docs and that happened.... My grandma is pretty strong and made it through both so far now.  We are still waiting on results. I would feel guilty driving out to buy pretty dishes with her in the hospital even if i did feel better.

For now, we rest, and we wait for travels to continue soon!

i was first in line!

I was first in line in bitter cold a few days ago for the estate sale in town.

Even arrived a half hour early....and lo and behold one other car was there. What got me was how ten other people showed up after that and proceeded to stand outside in subzero temps to be first in line.
really?
not happening! i walked up to the front of the line and looked inside....some old guy said he the line is back there....yeah...try messing with me.
i politely said well, i was in the parking lot for the past half hour to be first in line, and in fact that guy behind you was here even before me, the guy kinda ducked down embarrassed, but i said in fact you should be up here in front of me even....after thinking about it for a minute, he walked up in front of a couple people and stood next to me...
and we all proceeded to freeze for the next 12 minutes in the cold.

Why are people so dumb that we couldnt all just wait in our cars? that would have made more sense. So i get inside, and all the pyrex is marked skyhigh beyond belief and lots of it scratched and missing lids. well then....i did find a really cool vintage ottoman and while i was thinking about a mink stole for 16 dollars, another lady walked up and grabbed it. darn. guess there is no thinking when it comes to mink stoles...

I did buy the ottoman for 12 bucks. and know they go pretty well on ebay so wish me luck there. If you are in need of a really nice ottoman, i may just knock a bit off that high ebay price for you to get a great deal.

Went back a couple days later, and sure enough the pyrex was all more reasonably priced. i started filling boxes and met another collector who as i held my breath she reached for the one little promo in the whole bunch i was stacking up. ah well sometimes we have to share and i was glad to meet her and glad she got there when she did or that little promo would be sitting here too.  and it isnt like i knew the difference in what i was exactly buying at the time anyways so happy to share and learn from fellow collectors and new friends. . I will watch for more promos for sure. The estate sale guy brought me two really big boxes.

On my way out of that sale i couldn;t resist, and i wish i had a bigger kitchen which really sucks that i dont have one, but yes, i did buy a vintage table and chair set, but had no clue how i would ever get it home or why i bought it or what i would even do with it.

. While heading out to the car with all my dishes someone asked to buy the table and chairs from me. well, that worked out well! and even actually covered part of my pyrex purchase. quickest sale ever of the most beautiful yellow enamel and chrome vintage table i ever owned, for a few minutes...

three days later and I am still washing Pyrex. Does anyone ever get tired of it? lol.....no worries i took lots of breaks to do a few photo shoots of the new stuff.

gotta admit i have had this for awhile but didnt know it was called a creamer and opal at that . so here we have a Pyrex Creamer in opal. $10

Here I have grouped a couple of my ten cup corning ware percolators along with a corelle cup and the Federal glass set found at the estate sale. This stuff is heavy. and not pyrex....so moving on....

444 4 Qt. $20 small chip on handle, yeah like i said, the estate sale was filled with bad pyrex, is there such a thing?...but i still bought as much as i could.

442 1 1/2 Qt.

it is a good thing people me included love turquoise...which is what drew me to this pattern...am not amish, but certainly love the colors of this butterprint pattern.442 1 1/2 Qt. $18

Large Pyrex mixing bowl 444 4 Qt $25

475 B 2 1/2 quart $20
honestly? this looks like a sort of quilt pattern..Can't very well call it a pyrex quilt though right? which would be pretty cool if there were quilts with pyrex patterns on them. Has anyone created those yet?

474 B $10

475 B Pyrex $10

Shiny red slight blemishes no chips. 444 4 qt pyrex $30

471 1 pint with 28 470-c pyrex lid $15

045 2 1/2 quart. $30 omg! just realized my grand daughter may only be 5 years old, but snowflakes means only one thing, Frozen by Disney....she actually will force me to act out the entire movie scene by scene....sigh....she does tell me my lines too..someday years from now, she will most likely love snowflake dishes simply to remind her of her childhood hope the snowflake pyrex is still around. :)

being a vintage dish collector, who could ever pass this stuff up? yes, i did find my first gay fad bowl

Good color! fire king oven ware mixing bowl about 1.5 liters or just over 4 cups. $15

and that is about it for the estate sale, not counting the rest i haven't photographed yet! ;).  yes it will be awhile before it is all listed.

so back to that after i rest for awhile...

snow blizzard in the midwest!

oh my...a snow blizzard and half my family is snowed in across town and cannot risk driving as they say they are not clearing the roads til monday or even tuesday....when it is supposed to snow even more...everyone is fine so far, prayers welcomed for my great aunt who is in the hospital after a heart attack last night....so close to visit yet so risky to drive there and check on her. for now we are all just waiting to see how she is doing and all staying put til the roads are a bit safer.

stay safe if you are in snow territory....and shh i dont wanna hear about your sunshiney warm beaches right now...which would be amazingly perfect....

the snow is so heavy i am a bit concerned about my 1950s carport roof with the weight of so much of it all at once up there!
wish me luck...

4 thrift shops later and no pyrex....why oh why...

so four thrift shops later and every single stop was dry or way over priced...
what a sad day...on a brighter note my daughter offered to share some of her finds with me. :).
I raised her right! Love you sweetie :)

Did however find a book called the collectors encyclopedia of occupied japan collectibles second series by gene florence. Very informative for all the little glass things i love too.
And? The Duck Commander Devotional, yes from Duck Dynasty and it is a very inspirational book. Well worth it if you find a copy.

Am so excited to go see Pyrex from at my daughter's house but alas, it is icy outside tonight. pulled in the driveway and the sidewalks were covered with slushy icy snow after my thrifting adventure which was anything but an adventure this time around...

I will continue the hunt tomorrow...Stay safe and warm.

sexy grandma doll is sold. red dishes are pp(pending payment and sale) the little blue pixies are sold

i love pink! :)

more tomorrow....
